Snow Day!

Yesterday was

-- the first day of December

                                    --  our first snow (!!!!!)

--and the first day for the boys to use their new advent calendar!

We have the intention to do something special and seasonal each day this month, so yesterday was the perfect day to play outside until small people were cold and worn out. Bonus, it was fairly warm and sunny with blue skies!

We got out the sleds and all took turns sledding down the hill.

Wheee!

Xander Man was less then impressed with the whole playing in the snow system, so he spent a lot of time like this avoiding having to walk in the cold stuff. I tied the cord around my waist and pulled him around, a lot.

In the evening, Uncle Jonafin came over for dinner and we had corned beef and the fixins and assorted chocolates for dessert. Also I stayed up way too late after he left & the kids were in bed so that I got a chance to work on the Christmas gifts I am making. :)

I have the intention to blog every day in December as well, so stay tuned for that!

Today, we began to put away the fall decorations. The last edible pumpkin is cooked and cooling and waiting to be made into a pie. The gourds and other pumpkins will go to the back of the property for the wildlife to snack on, if they so desire. I am planning to make roasted root veggies and fried greens tonight to use up the very last of our farm share veggies.

The kids got out their (Fisher Price Little People) nativity scene today and have been enjoying it all morning. I have been taking the opportunity to craft, whoo hoo!

How is your second-day-of-Christmas-month going?

I am thankful for...

Getting a chance to connect with old friends (Rob and I both).

Funny new coffee places trying to be trendy in the suburbs. I no longer have to drive to the city to have trendy coffee, whoo hoo. :P

A very patient husband who has been giving me a lot of time evenings and weekends to craft Christmas gifts, which brings me a lot of joy.

Some new thrift store clothes. :)

My children, um, even when they DONT nap and whine for hours and hours due to it. :P

That we are HEALTHY again!!! :D

A hilarious photo of Rob & me that I am waiting for the perfect moment to share. :D

On Tuesday, our friends Chuck, Melissa and Miracle paid us a visit from out of town.

We love these guys! And only see them rarely. (We met online several years & they stayed with us the first time we met, in 2007.) We have seen them in person a total of 4 times in 2 & years. There is documented evidence of each time:

(haha, that sounds so officially, doesn't it?!)

This is September 2007...The first time we met, they came and visited us at our apartment. (our babies were born in Sept and Nov)

December 2007 with our babies...We meet up with them at a conference, we were all exhuasted and the babies were fussy, can you tell? :P

August 2008 at the new house with our big ole babies..

36 weeks and Ambroses (4)

It was GREAT to see them! They came for dinner, we ordered Thai food which was amazing, and we sat around and talked and laughed for a couple hours. The kids got along great as well. It was really sad to see them go again. Melissa and I connect on a really deep level... I thank God for this friendship and can see her growing all the time & always have something new to learn from her.  Maybe next time we will head out their way...Until then we have the phone (which we never use haha), and blogging, email, facebook... :)
